PERU 2002
For this adventure, I wanted to experience the jungle and photograph Macaws in the wild so I worked out a trip to the Manu Rainforest in Peru. The trip consisted of an initial day in the city of Cuzco, becoming acclimated to the altitude and then the next 7 days were spent in the rainforest.
Upon returning from Manu, I spent 2 more days in country, one dedicated for a day-trip to Macchu Picchu.
Each day in the rainforest was spent hiking or being transported by boat along the Madre De Dios River to new locations for the next day's hikes and night's lodging. While I was fortunate enough to see monkeys, caimans, river otters, and several dozen species of birds, making images in the jungle can be difficult, especially for an amateur photographer such as myself.
