PATAGONIA 2011

To start 2011 on a good note, I ventured to the area of Argentina and Chile known as Patagonia. The original focus was to try to glimpse unique hunting behavior of certain Killer Whales (Orcas) and hopefully make some images of it but I wasn't able to spend as much time as I needed there. So, I also got some great exercise and time outdoors by hiking glaciers and mountains further south. While I didn't get to see the Orcas, the people I met along the way were truly fun, interesting characters, some of whom have become friends, and with whom I had a blast sitting n the bluff on Punta Norte (northeastern Argentina) watching for and learning about Orca behavior. Then it was onto the truly hard work of the trip ... hiking on Perito Moreno Glacier (south western Argentina) and then several days hiking in Torres del Paine NP (in the fjords in southern Chile). The pain was worth every ounce of effort. Truly breathtaking scenery that my dusty photography skills really couldn't do justice but I'll let you be the judge :)  The shots I like best are images of the road in front of the Estancia in Punta Norte and the sunset that was casting a beautiful orange-purplish glow everything, as well as the shots of the Towers in Torres del Paine. I hope you enjoy!
